Blackjack is unique among casino games. Blackjack is usually played with eight deck shoe. As play continued, the card is removed from the shoe and placed in the discard pile. This creates a game history. Casino games other than random chance, like roulette or craps, where every round or roll is not dependent on the last game. But in blackjack card discarded removed from play and will not appear again until this walking shoe.
A blackjack player who knows how to count cards can take advantage of this game history. In the eight-deck shoes, you know there’s 32 aces. If 30 of them have been played and discarded, only 2 remain in the shoe. You can adjust your play based on the remaining cards in the shoe. That’s the heart of each card counting system, knowing what cards remain in the shoe.
